Immense healthcare disparity exists in the Pacific. Our community members are more susceptible to diabetes, hypertension, cancer, mental illness, and substance abuse. We are threatened by increasing natural disasters, rising rates of infectious disease, and a lack of access to basic resources, land, and health care.

There are not enough physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff to meet the current and future health needs of our community.

Our Vision

As a group of over 40 aspiring healthcare providers, born and raised on the Island of Guam and throughout the Pacific, we are dedicated towards developing strategic initiatives aimed at addressing the low number of physicians on the islands. Our overarching goal is to contribute to the enhancement of healthcare access and quality within the island of Guam and its surrounding communities. Chålan Åmte is dedicated to fostering positive change by:

• Mentorship Programs: Providing guidance and support to individuals aspiring to pursue a medical career, nurturing their passion and commitment.

• Advocacy Initiatives: Championing for policies and resources that facilitate increased medical school matriculation and improved physician retention rates.

• Research Endeavors: Conducting relevant and impactful research to identify key factors influencing medical education and healthcare practices in the Pacific region.

• Institutional Infrastructure Development: Collaborating with local institutions to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, ensuring a conducive environment for medical professionals to thrive.
